What are some shipping options?
Air Freight
In some cases, this can be a door-to-door delivery. It is more cost effective to pick up your shipment at the airport and take it through customs. Whether a door delivery or an airport pickup, the shipment must go through a customs airport. A door-to-door delivery is not possible if you do not live near a customs airport. Dependent on destination and customs, the average transit time is 4-10 days. If you have multiple packages, we suggest they are palletized so the delivery can bundle as one shipment. There is a palletizing fee of $75 in addition to the shipping charges. The cost to declare a loss/damage value for an air freight shipment is $1.10 per $100 of value.
Ocean Freight
This is door-to-port only. After notification your shipment has arrived, you must make arrangements to pick it up and take it through customs. There is a minimum charge for ocean freight (for the minimum, you can ship up to one cubic meter/137 kilos). Ocean freight requires all cartons be strapped to a wooden pallet. There is a palletizing fee of $75 in addition to the shipping charges. Dependent on destination and customs, the average transit time is 4-6 weeks. The cost to declare a loss/damage value for an ocean freight shipment is $2.50 per $100 of value.
U.S. Postal Service
This is a door-to-door delivery. You may choose between air or surface services. Dependent on destination and customs, the average time for air is 4-10 days, and the average time for surface is 4-6 weeks. The limitations for postal shipping are: 44 pounds, 79 inches length plus girth, and the maximum length for one side is 42 inches. The U.S. Postal Service is not traceable.
How much will it cost?
To provide you with an accurate freight estimate, please compile the following information:
What is being shipped, e.g., electronics, clothing, furniture, etc.
Are the items already packaged for shipment? Proper packaging is necessary to insure successful arrival of your shipment.
What are the dimensions? We need width x height x girth.
How much does it weigh? If you don’t know the weight, please estimate.
What is the destination? Provide an exact address including postal codes.
Is arrival time critical? Of course, faster shipping carriers will charge more for this service.
What is the total value of the items you are shipping? The value is important for damage/loss declared value as well as for customs (duties & taxes may apply).
Are there other options other than air freight, ocean freight or postal service?
Yes, there are three private carriers that are very reliable. DHL, United Parcel Service and Federal Express all ship internationally. These shipments are door-to-door deliveries and a great option if you need to get a letter or a small package delivered quickly. The first $100 of declared value is covered in the shipping cost for loss/damage. It is $1-$2.20 per $100 additional value.
What will my customs charges be?
Unfortunately, we have no control over, nor knowledge of, what customs charges may be in each country. To have an idea of what to expect, you may want to contact the nearest embassy. Try http://www.embassy.org/embassies/ for contact information. PLEASE NOTE: The value you declare on your customs form cannot be lower than your declared value for loss or damage.
